Councillor Marie Bancroft

I am originally from Barnsley, but have now lived in Treeton for more years than I did in my hometown. I moved here around 33 years ago to be with my husband and have loved being part of the village ever since.

I spent most of my career with BT, working in Business Development and legal roles, much of which took me abroad. My father was a miner and my mother worked in the pit canteen in Barnsley, so I consider myself of good mining stock.

While my work often kept me away from home, becoming involved with the Parish Council has been a wonderful way to connect with people in the village and give something back to the community.

I have two stepchildren and four step-grandchildren, two of whom live in Spain and two in the Yorkshire and Derbyshire area, so we spend a great deal of time visiting family there.
